BEYOND THE RAINBOW

Please keep Pastor Spike and Lindy in your prayers. They have lost their beloved dog, Samson.

BEYOND THE RAINBOW

As much as I loved the life we had and all the times we played,
I was so very tired and knew my time on earth would fade
I saw a wondrous image then of a place that's trouble-free
Where all of us can meet again to spend eternity.

I saw the most beautiful Rainbow, and on the other side
Were meadows rich and beautiful - lush and green and wide
And running through the meadows as far as the eye could see
Were animals of every sort as healthy as could be.

My own tired, failing body was fresh and healed and new
And I wanted to go run with them, but I had something left to do
I needed to reach out to you, to tell you I'm alright
That this place is truly wonderful, then a bright glow pierced the night.

"Twas the glow of many candles, shining bright and strong and bold
And I knew then that it held your love in it's brilliant shades of gold.

For although we may not be together in the way we used to be
We are still connected by a cord no one can see
So whenever you need to find me, we're never far apart
If you look beyond the Rainbow and listen with your heart.

Weekday School Krispy Kreme Donut Drive

Once again the Weekday School will kick off the school year with the annual donut drive. The classrooms are in great need of some updated furniture and teaching aids, and a major goal this year is to replace the cabinets and sink in the Church nursery. We are selling donut coupons at $5.50 each, with the school realizing $2.76 per coupons. If you are able to sell coupons or you just want to order for yourself, an order form is available at the link below. If you are unable to sell and still want to help, a cash donation to the project would be greatly appreciated.

For more details regarding the donut drive, selling tips and the order form, please follow this link on the Weekday School page. Thanks!

Habitat for Humanity

The International Day of Prayer and Action for Human Habitat

The International Day of Prayer and Action for Human Habitat, is observed on the third Sunday in September (September 17, 2007). It is a time when the entire Habitat for Humanity community is urged to come together in prayer for those in need of shelter. Through prayer, Habitat for Humanity continues to make a dramatic difference in the lives of people around the world. Many volunteers are drawn to this ministry after hearing God’s call and seeking God’s guidance through prayer.

The Day of Prayer was begun in 1983 to make housing a matter of conscience. The intent was to place in the hearts, minds and souls of people everywhere the idea that poverty housing is unacceptable. The New Testament passage from 1 John 3:17 teaches that we must respond to those in need. Prayers are answered when families and communities grow in the shelter of God’s grace. The hurdles of funding and building homes are overcome through the miracles of prayer.

The mission of Sea Island Habitat for Humanity is to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness West of the Ashley River and the surrounding sea islands, and to make decent housing a matter of conscience in our community. For more information about how you can help Habitat in our community, contact Christa Lewis:

Pearl For A Day!

Today all the work the youth did Laboring on Labor Day paid off.
Click link or picture to see just how hard the youth REALLY worked on Labor Day.

Do you call this working?

The "top secret" garden was in and the mission was accomplished!
Pearl Jones did not suspect the "real" plan. What was funny was that,
this week she was shown so much extra appreciation that she thought
something "not so good" was happening.
Pastor Spike had mailed a letter out to each home
requesting that we all do things to honor Pearl this week and we did!
This accounts for this half of the church sign. Click to see it in large size!

Click this picture (or any of them) to see them full size.

Today in the Children's Worship, Pearl Jones was honored for the work that she does
and for the great strides that our church is making in Christian education.
As indicated earlier, the youth met on Labor Day and did the work
of digging the garden and getting it ready for plants and garden stones.

Lindy Coleman presents a special garden stone designed just for Pearl.

The dedication of the garden was held during Moments of Fellowship
which was held today in front of the church near the garden.
This was very special as it gave Moments of Fellowship the feel of a true "garden party."

Pastor Spike Coleman dedicates the new garden to Pearl in the pictures below.

After the dedication it was more
Fellowship before people began to leave for home.

Close up of the special garden stone, in place, in the garden.

Now the name of this post is "pearl for a day,"
but in reality, Pearl Jones is a true diamond studded pearl
each and everyday!
She shares her talents and brings and imparts
the spirit of God in all that she does.

So this sign in front of her garden says it all!

Thanks Pearl, for all that you do!

Rally Day Highlights

Rally Day was indeed a celebration of the ministries that make us a "community of believers." After icebreaker questions, each table was given a lovely bag of random fun items that contained all we needed to create an infomercial about the ministry team that was highlighted at the table. There was lots of creativity and fun all around as each table presented their infomercial based on the accompanying scripture. Check out these highlights!

Building and Grounds reminded usof all the work that
will be done right at St. Andrew's in the very near future

Christian Education reminds us that we needed
to be attending Bible study..we needed to be there or be square!

After worship we have a great Labor Day dinner
in the Fellowship Hall.

The main point of all this fun was that there is room on every ministry team for anyone who would like to help. All you have to do is let any session member know or any member of the ministry team you are interested in. There is a little form you can fill out expressing your interest. You can complete it and turn it in on Sunday in the collection plate.

Every team needs more members so now is the time to jump on board! Everyone is welcome.
